Over 450 supporters in the Yard & Mile Club made it happen: click here for the membership list.
Field work has started to determine the best route of the final 2 miles. The goal: give people a great way to walk or ride right into Phelps beautiful lakefront park.
Completion ETA: early summer 2019.

Family fun, live music, great food!

Over 100 people took part in the Don Gillum Memorial Bike and Hike on the Conover-Phelps Trail on July 21. Midway through the event they gathered on the trail to dedicate a bench to honor the memory of a volunteer who helped make trails happen for communities in eastern Vilas County.

Building family-friendly biking and walking trails
near the source of a Great River

The Great Headwaters Trails foundation’s goal is to build 40 miles of biking and walking trails in eastern Vilas County, the headwaters of the Wisconsin River. The Great Headwaters Trails system will connect the towns of Land O’ Lakes, Conover, Phelps and Eagle River and beyond to the Three Eagles Trail, Heart of Vilas Trail and Wilderness Lakes Trail.

A grand vision – a connecting system of over 110 miles of trails.

The first leg of the Great Headwaters Trails system is the Conover-Phelps Trail.
