Vilas County News-Review: Connector bike trail gets fresh paint; volunteers install bollards for season

About a half dozen volunteers gathered in the city of Eagle River last Wednesday morning to install the bollards that mark the bike and pedestrian trail through two parking lots near downtown.

Meanwhile, the Eagle River Public Works Department placed a fresh coat of yellow paint to mark the corridor that improves safety for bicyclists and pedestrians. The bollards are installed each spring and taken down in the fall to allow for easier snow plowing and the snowmobile trail during the winter months.

Great Headwaters Trails Foundation (GHTF) and the Three Eagle Trail Foundation originally installed the bollards from just north of the Dairy Queen to the Railroad Depot parking lot, according to Gary Meister, GHTF director.
